Jack Hill

Jack Hill 2d4mk

Jack Hill is a true master of exploitation films, directing classics of the genre in the 1960s and 70s. After working as a cameraman and editor coming out of UCLA Film School, he directed low-budget cult films like Spider Baby (1967) and Pit Stop (1969). In the 70s, he cast female acting sensation Pam Grier in two women-in-prison films in The Big Doll House (1971) and The Big Bird Cage (1972), both shot in the Philippines. After the success of those films, Hill cast Grier in two of the greatest blaxploitation movies ever: Coffy (1973) and Foxy Brown (1974). Hill's other top contribution to the exploitation genre was The Switchblade Sisters (1975), which gained a cult following in the 90s when Quentin Tarantino re-released the film under his Rolling Thunder Pictures label. Hill stopped directing in the 80s, but he left the film world with some of the most entertaining exploitation movies ever made. Most of his movies are available to watch for free online. 2za6b
