Jason's Lyric is a 1994 romantic drama directed by Doug McHenry. The movie tells the story of Jason Alexander (Allen Payne), a hardworking young man from Houston, who is haunted by the tragic death of his father and is torn between his responsibilities towards his troubled brother, Joshua (Bokeem Woodbine), and his burgeoning love for a liberated woman named Lyric (Jada Pinkett Smith). As Jason falls deeper in love with Lyric, he is pulled further into the violent path that Joshua is heading down, leading to a heart-wrenching climax.
