The Wild Child is a 1970 French drama film directed by Francois Truffaut. Based on a true story from the late 18th century, the film follows the discovery of a young boy (played by Jean-Pierre Cargol) who has lived in the forests of Aveyron in southern for much of his life, isolated from human and behaving like a wild animal. Renamed Victor by the scientists who study him, the boy is taken under the wing of Dr. Jean Itard (played by Francois Truffaut himself), who attempts to civilize and educate him. Many critics felt it was one of Truffaut's best films.
